Wrenn & Ryan: Cousin’s Island Chapel Wedding, Yarmouth, ME

I have a GREAT job.  I’ll be the first to admit it.  Week after week, day after day, I’m lucky enough to meet some of the most interesting and talented people on the planet.  At our most basic level, our work is simply storytelling.  We’re photojournalists, capturing real moments and real emotions creatively and beautifully.  Quite often, it is our job to discover the underlying story… to weave the thread that connects all the different characters.

With Wrenn and Ryan, their story was so beautiful and so elegantly simple, that we connected easily… and our “job” was really all about remaining unobtrusive and just letting their thoughtful plans unfold.  After meeting with them, I expected to have a great time with them… but what I didn’t expect was how much fun I would have not only with them, but their incredible family and friends.

Their rehearsal dinner began with lobsters, steamers, and a slideshow.  Nothing too surprising here right?  Wrong: in the middle of the slideshow, the incredible music of David Berkeley faded out, as David Berkeley walked in to personally serenade the couple.

Wrenn first sees David Berkeley walk in playing.

David… killing it.  So good.

Ryan had secretly plotted and planned this surprise… and based on Wrenn’s expression… I’d say it worked!

David wrote a song just for Ryan and Wrenn based on information that Ryan had shared with him over the past year.  What an amazing, thoughtful gift!  There’s so much that happened at the rehearsal dinner that I couldn’t possibly fit it all in this post, but rest assured it was documented and can be seen with all the photos here (or follow the link at the very end of this posting).

Next day = Wedding Day!  Wrenn’s gown hangs at their family house on Cousin’s Island.

“Soon to be Mrs. Baldwin”

I love the silhouette of Wrenn in this image and her expression as she tries to figure out this “veil thing.”

From the community house next door to the Cousin’s Island Chapel, Wrenn watches the guests arrive.

Beautiful bouquets by Flora Home.  Nice work!

Ryan patiently waiting for the ceremony to begin.

Wrenn’s last yell to her bridesmaids before they walk down the aisle.

Ryan waits for Wrenn & her dad.

A unique perspective from outside, one of the windows was left open for ventilation.  That’s Wrenn and Ryan at the altar in the left hand corner of the image.

With dappled light reflecting off a window… Wrenn looks incredible.

Husband and wife!

Walking back down the aisle.

Just a seconds after stepping outside… a real, timeless moment captured.

Wrenn & Ryan on the top step of the chapel.

With Ryan holding her shoes… they’re off to the reception at Camp Hammond!

Beautiful cake.  (You know I had to try it… two thumbs up)!

First dance.

Wrenn’s brother breaks it down.

This person will remain unidentified… but I believe he’s dancing here.

This is definitely dancing.  I think.

We brought our photobooth again… and these lovely guests decided to document their night.  The sign reads “Before (7:25pm)”

After 10:21pm, it was all over.

Not sure what this is about… I just hope I’m not encouraging him.

Sign reads: “Wrenn & Friends – Imagine you in 2037”

Awww… so sweet.  (You should see the ones they took just before this).

Normally I finish a blog post with a gorgeous image of the wedding couple… but not today.  Nothing says “The End” quite like a passed out guy and an empty bottle of Maker’s Mark.

***************

In all seriousness though, Malia and I had so much fun at your wedding.  You and your family/friends were all so wonderful to us, we really appreciated the opportunity to document your day.  Thank you for having us!!
