So fun to see how this election has affected so many around the world!

It's also easy to forget that there's real people behind all of the amazing images that we're seeing on a daily basis, and that these photojournalists are living in the same, often challenging conditions that they are documenting...Thanks for sharing this!

Hi Brian; Dont know if you remember me but we worked together at Bowdoin in th Admissions Office. My daughter-in-law was at your presentation last night and sent me your pictures - amazing!
You're a great photographer - and I had no idea that this was happening to turtles.
Erika, my daughter in law - also graduated from Bowdoin'97.
My best to you and your family.

Thanks everyone for the support and great comments! The intended final use is to spread awareness of the situation. Undoubtedly there will be magazine articles published soon and possibly an exhibition at some point. More than anything though, I just didn't want to sit on the sidelines when I knew that this story wasn't being told...

More is coming (I promise!!)

I had no idea this was going on either. The pictures are so amazing and some are so sad...

It has to be hard to see this on a daily basis, but it's great that these guys are trying to make a difference. It takes pretty special people to devote their lives to a cause like this. Thanks for sharing these with us.

Wow Brian!
I just found this blog searching old friends on Google and LinkedIn. It has been a long time buddy but I can see you have stayed true to yourself. I remember Lea vividly... always running all over town and always so nice to an underclassman. I used to think I was so cool talking with her in the halls.
I can relate having lost much of my 20's to surgeries and know her strength will serve her well! Drop me a line and let me know next time you are back in MA!

Hi Jamie... yes, Greystone is private, however it is rented out for receptions/gatherings occasionally. It's a spectacular place. The owner's name is Bob Diberto and his phone # is 207.363.1194.

Hope this helps!

Excellent job Brian and Christine. It's a pleasure to work with you. You really captured the Wilk and Lopez family. What a wonderful expression of the day. Look forward to seeing you at the Inn again with the absence of fire and fog of course.

Best to you,

A truly magical mist and mixture of everything good! What a combination and collaboration of your style and their style. Both are of exceptional taste but do not lose the warmth of the individuals involved. Great color contrast with the fog and the bright salsa colors of dresses and flowers.
Thanks for sharing-

Brian,

I'm so impressed with what you and Christine are doing! I love your pictures and your philosophy. I'm happy to be in that huge web of friends and family. I've sent this link to my kids, hope you don't mind.
The picture of your sister is amazing. She is a beautiful, feminine version of you- minus the sun-burned stripes on her head! Happy to hear she is doing well.
Keep up your fine work and good deeds! God Bless.

I love to see our multi-dimensional photographer out there having fun, raising money for another great cause, and of course biking some amazing miles in there too! Wow- it was a great snippet into another area of your life and how you come to look at the world and ultimately create photos.
What an inspiration!

Wow- stunning photos and a beautiful spot. Love the contrast of black & White vs. color.

Thanks for bringing us another slice of beauty and a wonderful commentary. The pictures tell a stunning story themselves.

Terrific job, Brian! I would have cheered you on but, as you know, I was out on the course myself, having my own triumphs and setbacks (calf cramps). Wouldn't have traded the experience for anything, and I know you feel the same way. You have a great sister and your sister has a great brother!

I came across this post today while searching online for something else entirely, and I'm glad I did. I don't necessarily agree with this war we're in, but that doesn't remotely lessen my respect and admiration for all of the men and women putting their lives at risk and on hold to protect the rights of all of us here at home.

I appreciate this country, and everyone looking out for it. Thanks for sharing this story and your pictures. I can't wait to look around the rest of your blog to see what else is here!

Sarah and Chris,
Thanks for having us! The truth is that your wedding was amazing. Your families were so welcoming to us, and we really appreciate the kind words.
We're so lucky to have captured your week of festivities and are psyched that you loved the process and the final images so much.
We expect you at the annual lobsterbake this September!!!

Environmental issues have been an area of interest and value to me, and we are so pleased to know that this amazing photographer that we hired purely for the promise of incredible images... also has a social conscience.

The Patagonia name is well known to many who love the outdoors as representing the highest quality possible. We were not aware of the extent to which Chouinaard... and YOU are going for the sake of all of us. Thanks for the introduction to Yvon Chouinard and story behind the company. Your dedication and contribution to our planet is inspiring!!!

Ha!!! I know... I'm an awful guy! Just wait... at your wedding there won't be any photos above your knees. Pay back Meg, pay back!!!

I knew you guys would dig this, and I've been trying for years (with Christine's support) to make a real serious commitment. Life's short and though I won't cut back on our fundraising for kicking cancer's butt, we just need to pay an "Earth Tax" for all the beautiful locations we get to use as backdrops.

Yours especially. Can't wait for that Colorado wedding next month. And congrats on doing your part too... that's awesome. Maybe you ARE deserving of a few good wedding photos after all!

Can't wait to see you and Bill!

Hey there Bri-

I agree- what comes around-does go around! It is amazing to see how it works out in life, but it just seems to find a natural cycle. I truly enjoyed Yvon's interview and his book- thanks for sharing this with all of us. Congrats on being the first photographer in Maine to join the 1% club- great work!

Very, very cool Brian! We just decided that in order to share our blessings we're asking our friends and family to donate to our favorite charity rather than give us wedding gifts.

You joining 1% is just another thing to add to the list of reasons we're positive that you're the photographer for us! The only thing is.....we just wish you were nicer and had a better sense of humor....kidding!!

We're proud of you and THANK YOU for donating your time to help us last week. Good to know you're still available as a wooden boatbuilder even though you're a fancy pants photographer now a days.

Brian,
You have a real gift for putting people at ease while creatively capturing EVERYTHING. Our destination wedding was amazing because of you and Christine. Amazing preparation, amazing process, amazing results... just amazing.
Your "past life" as a guide is so evident. We NEVER expected to have you fly to Puerto Rico to help take care of us in such a complete way. I mean we thought we were getting this really cool, really creative guy who would be wonderful to have with us, and who could also take these awesome photos. But we never expected to have you be so wonderful dealing with all the changes, all the weather and my crazy family with ease.
I mean how many destination photographers need to (and can) speak French, Japanese, English and a little Spanish all in one day? That was amazing, and it saved our butts.
You have a gift for this stuff, and it doesn't surprise me at all that you've now written the book on it. If I were to ever plan some complex event in a foreign country again, I would have you with us again in a heartbeat. The fact that you're so unobtrusive and calm in the face of all the craziness is incredible.
THANK YOU. We saw the book in Borders yesterday. You're work is the best and so are you. We're lucky we found you!

Brian,
For all of us who couldn't be there... and are in a battle with cancer... THANK YOU for the awareness, compassion and sensitivity that you've shown not only to your sister, but to your community.
You have done us a great service, while still being there for your sister and your family.
  You are our hero!!

Wow Bri, Sounds like the quinessential New England farm. Thanks for sharing a part of your life with us. It made me feel like I was travelling to a different time and a different place. Escape from our own reality is sometimes a good thing and your words and photos allow us that journey.

Wow, this is very special. The fact is you do have much to share and much to say. You seem to do that in the way you live your life both professional and personal. You give to us your gift of capturing the ordinary in a quite extraordinary light. I am thrilled to read your thoughts, of your struggles, and of your celebrations.
